CUMARU ADVANTAGES

Cumaru is considered one of the most reliable woods for both outdoor and indoor construction. Its versatility allows it to be the perfect choice for flooring, decking, furniture, cabinetry and more. Having a Janka Hardness rating of 3540, Cumaru is one of the strongest woods available on the market. Its outstanding durability and lower price compared to other leading hardwoods makes cumaru one of the favorites for outdoor construction.

Cumaru is mainly used for flooring and decking, yet it can also be a perfect choice for ceilings and sidings. Like most hardwoods, the standard profile for Cumaru lumber is 1×6 which you can find here.

SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainable: The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) DOES NOT list Cumaru in its appendices. The Forest Legality Initiative also states that cumaru can be exported and traded internationally. The International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List of Threatened Species (IUCN) does not list cumaru as an endangered species.  Brazilian Lumber, LLC meets high standards for social, economic and environmental responsibility.  We monitor and document chain of custody of all our hardwood, we are Lacey Act compliant, IBAMA compliant and provide FSC certified options.  This means that purchasing from us fuels the hardwood lumber economy in South American forests, and by providing well paying jobs for many people in turn means the industry values its conservation and preservation.
